It’s in all our hands to make a better world for all who live in it this Mandela Day!
Gateway together with our partner Robinhood FOUNDATION aim to provide families in need with an easy to make meal this winter. The mall is challenging its patrons and the community at large to get involved in its charity drive by donating a Jar of Hope.
Want to know how to make a JAR OF HOPE?
Simply fill any glass bottom with ½ cup rice, ½ cup soup mix, ½ cup lentils, 1 unwrapped stocked cube and 1 packet soup powder. One jar can feed up to four people. It’s easy to make and affordable on your budget!
A collection point is set up at the malls Information Desk until 6pm, 31 July. Completed jars can be placed into collection boxes provided. Total jars collected will be distributed by the Robinhood FOUNDATION to a catchment area in close proximity the mall.
You can also do your bit on social media. Challenge your friends, family and colleagues by commenting on the Gateway post found on its social media pages. Then nominate few friends to donate a Jar of Hope. You can also send us a picture of your efforts @GatewayUmhlanga and we’ll include it in our Mandela Day photo montage!
“At a time when we have all been urged to stay at home due to the Covid 19 pandemic, many South Africans feel torn between their need to stay safe and their desire to make a difference to the many thousands of people going hungry during this challenging time. Gateway has offered a wonderful opportunity for everyone to get involved in making a difference to the poorest of the poor, from the comfort of their homes. By making these jars of hope, the public will be feeding needy families nutritious meals, showing them what kind community hearts South Africans have and they will be making a difference that will keep Nelson Mandela’s legacy alive at a time where people need help the most. From the Robin Hood Foundation, we thank Gateway for their kindness and support once again and we urge the public to keep hope alive by donating jars of hope for Mandela day!” said Cindy Norcott Founder/The Chairperson Robinhood FOUNDATION.
